Those who know me well know how much I love animals. In order to support the fight against animal cruelty through my art, I have collaborated with Fiona at Cruelty Free Malta http://crueltyfreemalta.com where you can find a selection of my works. Proceeds from sales made through this website go towards local organizations which take care of animals.
And to conclude, as I had hinted a bit earlier, I will be collaborating with a local well-known shop which sells handmade things where you will find a special collection of my jewellery….but I will keep you curious for a bit more… ! SMELLS nice doesn’t it?

Post Award Season Reflections
The award season is over, ending off with a bang with the Night of the Oscars on the 27th of February 2011. This year there were very intense and captivating films among the nominees and incredibly talented actors and actresses to choose from.
Apart from the acting and the talent, there cannot be an award season without the glitz, the glamour, the dresses, the shoes, the big hair.....and of course, the jewellery!
Prussian or cobalt blue was a favourite colour for dresses on the red carpet this year. This was complemented beautifully with a pop of colour in the jewellery.
For the Bafta Awards, Jessica Alba chose to match her cobalt blue dress with this lovely necklace with what looks like blue and turquoise ceramic beads, gold and diamonds, and diamond earrings.
Mariska Hargitay also wore a blue dress to the Screen Actors Guild Awards worn with simple turquoise earrings which really brought light to her face.
Mandy Moore chose a more subtle look for the Golden Globes by wearing her blue dress with oversized vintage style gold pendant earrings.
Light blue was also a popular with style icon Nicole Kidman who wore this very original oxidized metal brooch with these lovely topaz stones. She chose to couple the brooch with jet black chandelier earrings. Not an obvious choice, but can Nicole ever go wrong?
Mentioning getting the look wrong, I was not too please with Lara Spencer's choice of earrings. Although turquoise is my favourite stone, the earrings overshadow her delicate features and compete with the dress for attention.
Kyra Sedgwick, on the other hand, got it absolutely right at the Golden Globes by coupling this bright orange dress with this gorgeous pair of gold and turquoise earrings, effortlessly chic!
Mila Kunis chose a fresh young look for the 2011 Film Critics' Awards by wearing this simple set of blue and metal earrings and necklace.
Young and edgy was the look Kelly Osbourne went for at the 2011 Golden Globes. She choose these stunning semiprecious stone and diamond earrings with an upstyle and long black dress.
Julia Stiles also went for this edgy look at the Screen Actors Guild Awards by coupling this dress with these oversizes black earrings with this black ring and black bracelet... a bit too Gothic maybe?
Nathalie Portman and Kim Kardashian wore purple to the Oscars and SAG awards respectively.
While both were stunning, Nathalie's outfit was fit for a winner with these amethyst tassel earrings and Kim toned down her elaborate dress with these simple chain maille earrings...I am not sure, but is seems the earrings had a diamond here and there, so they were not so understated after all!
Diamonds were also a favourite with Nicole Kidman who chose to wear a 150 carat diamond necklace to the Oscars...not bad!
And with Dianna Agron who looked angelic at the Golden Globes with this delicate diamond-encrusted bib necklace, matching earrings and hair clip
I look forward to using these inspirations for creating my new pieces, I am sure you will be seeing a few nice pieces in blue and purple in the coming months!

Sharing the Passion
Good morning! Yesterday was a day I had awaiting for quite some time. The highlight (and what a highlight!) was a Jewellery Making workshop I set up at Soap Café in Rudolph Street, Sliema. I had been pondering about sharing my passion for jewellery with others for quite a while but was a bit surprised and a little overwhelmed as well when Charlene Mercieca, the lady who does magic with soap, suggested setting one up at her shop. Now that the first workshop is over, I am so ecstatic that I cannot understand why I waited so long to take the plunge!
Yesterday I was greeted by six exceptional ladies, who, like me, love crafts and have their fingers itching to try new art projects. At first they seemed a bit puzzled when I started taking out all sorts of beads and findings and crimps and thing. Yes findings can have that effect on people on their first encounter, they are small but the range is never-ending! Once they put their hands on the beads, it was a completely different story! I was so pleased to see the ladies create their first jewellery, and with such nonchalance, and to see their final products – which turned out exceptionally well considering they were first attempts!
Now there is only one thing I hope – that I have rubbed on some of my jewellery passion onto them too… I’m sure they’re hooked as well!
The next Jewellery Making Workshop will be held on Saturday 26th March at 10:30am. Email me on info@panterinajewellery.com for further details
